Deco

Art deco, glorious and in flight.

The Adelphi – Collcutt and Hamp, 1938.

This is probably one of my favourite buildings in London. I like that it sits so tightly packed on the Strand that you can only really appreciate it by standing this close and just looking skyward. It caught the evening sunlight during what has been an otherwise very dismal January. An interlude amongst the bookish blogs but this week’s read was a very close contemporary of the Adelphi, having been first published just 4 years earlier.
